VolSU students are bronze medallists of the All-Russian Student Marathon
Volgograd State University team "Sapsan" took third place in the premier league group in the overall standings of the All-Russian Student Marathon, one of the main student events in Russia. The Youth Festival is organised by the Student Coordination Council of the Union of Students of Educational Institutions. The event, which brought together the brightest talents fr om all over the country, took place from 1 to 5 February in the Krasnodar region. The festival is supposed to unite the best students from different parts of Russia.
This year, the programme of the 21st All-Russian Student Marathon was divided into three areas: creative, intellectual and sports. Over the course of five days, teams from 25 universities competed against each other in 18 competition stages. More than 500 students took part in the marathon in two leagues: the Premier League (teams of up to 20 people) and the Higher League (teams of up to 100 people).
In the artistic programme, our team took third place in the vocal competition "Returning to our roots". In this stage we had to perform a Russian pop music composition, styling it as it was a Russian folk music.
"The All-Russian Student Marathon is one of the biggest and strongest competitions I have participated in. Almost every performance of the students gave me goosebumps. The level of preparation can be compared to Eurovision. Our song was bright, strong and memorable. We performed with full commitment. We gave the audience emotions, showed our talents and reached a new level. I believed in us and knew that we would be able to leave an unforgettable impression and win the hearts of the audience,"-Diana Shishkina said, a third-year student of the Institute of Law of VolSU.
The dance competition "Cultural Code" was amazing in its scale. The point of the stage was to combine the dance styles of contemporaries and Afro-jazz.
"I was very inspired by the concept of our dance, because to show the process of art in choreography sounds very interesting. Despite my dance experience, it was difficult to work together at first, because it turned out that contemporary for me is an unexploited direction. As a result, our team showed a high result! I am really proud that I was able to success with my personal efforts, and most importantly, to work smoothly and powerfully in the circle of my best friends," - Yana Derevyagina shared her impressions, a third-year student of the Institute of Economics and Management of VolSU.
The "All-Russian Humour Cup" game was, most importantly, funny! The teams prepared performances with relevant jokes. The VolSU team "Sapsan" achived the second place in this game.
"During the preparation it was difficult to combine it with other stages, but I can say one thing - it's a valuable experience I gained. It's something new and interesting: we laughed with ourselves and tried to cheer up others. Thanks to the team and our coach, Jafar Pochakhov, for the fun rehearsals and our well-deserved prize, - Rifad Bayramaliev said, a second-year student of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of VolSU.
The "Second Breath" stylist competition was astonishing and surprising. The task of the participating team was to create a model's image, including costume, make-up and hairstyle. The costume is a new unique product ready to wear made of denim, created on the basis of recycled items and materials with customisation techniques!
— "When I was given the task of costume design, I was nervous, but not scared. I am not a professional seamstress or a stylist, just a bit of a hobbyist. When I was looking for inspiration, I came across pieces of varying complexity, I didn't know how to model and sew them, but I knew I would do my best not to let the team down. I spent more than 70 continuous hours sewing and about 20 pairs of jeans. I spent another 15 hours sewing the costume together with the team. Thanks to this experience, I realised that we can do anything, the main thing is diligence, passion and ingenuity," Lidia said Lideneva, a third-year student of the Institute of History, International Relations and Social Technologies.
The real test for the VolSU team was the clowning competition "The Story of One Invention". The efforts brought results - the third place! The students showed on stage the story of one orchestra, which could not get an artist without a voice. The artist wanted to join the orchestra so much that he created a whole musical instrument - a guitar.
— For our team, the clowning contest was the most unexpected part of the work. We had no idea what to do with it. But when you have burning eyes and ideas, you can always find a way out! I would like to thank cordially Elena Topolaga, the head of our student theatre "Tochka Opory", she told us about the basics and conducted rehearsals, wh ere we felt more and more like real clowns (in a good sense!) every time, - Svetlana Albutova said, Deputy Chair of the Student Council, a fourth-year student of the Institute of History, International Relations and Social Technologies.
It is a pleasure for our students to tell about the university and the region. That is why the "Welcome" video competition for the VolSU team was a great success - the work won the first place. The video had to be made on the theme of "student tourism": to tell about the achievements of the university, directions and specialities, about the history of the city. The students made a video that attracted student tourists: they made a tour of the university and Volgograd via song.
These high results helped "Sapsan" to take first place in the overall standings of the creative programme of the All-Russian Student Marathon in the premier league. This is the first time VolSU has achieved such a result.
The sports programme consisted of interesting tournaments: mini-football and basketball (3x3); badminton (among girls), in which VolSU took the 3rd place; NBA cyber sports tournament- 2nd place; chess - 3rd place, ropes course "Element". According to the results of the tournaments, the VolSU team took third place in the overall standings of the premier league of the sports programme of the All-Russian Student Marathon.
According to the results of all the competitive tests, the VolSU team took bronze among 20 Russian universities.
"I am glad that almost the whole team participated in the marathon for the first time, and for the first time such a high result! I am insanely proud of every member of the team. The festival captivated with its atmosphere - a real celebration of creativity, sport and intellect among 500 students from all over Russia.
