VolSU held the working meeting with representatives of the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of the People's Republic of China

A delegation of representatives from the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of the People's Republic of China and the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences visited VolSU on 23 August 2023. The main goal of the visit was to develop cooperation between VolSU and Chinese universities in the field of higher and additional education.

Alla Kalinina, Rector of Volgograd State University, made a welcoming speech and presented the achievements and prospects of the University to the guests from the People's Republic of China. As representatives of Volgograd State University, the meeting was also attended by First Vice-Rector Valentin Dzedik, Vice-Rector for Academic Work Dmitry Ilyin, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education Alexey Suslov and Head of the International Office Larisa Tavkin.

On the agenda of the visit of the Chinese delegation was the implementation of joint programmes in the field of higher and additional professional education. Zhang Shi Ming, Programme Coordinator in Russia of the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of the People's Republic of China, stressed the necessity of cooperation in higher education for further economic development of Russia and China and noted his interest in the educational programmes offered at Volgograd State University. In collaboration with Yuri Chepurko, a leading researcher of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Zhang Shi Ming presented at VolSU the initiative to create the Russian-Chinese Centre for International Education, which will test citizens for the HSK international Chinese language proficiency exam.

The intensive programme of the working meeting ended with a joint visit to the House of Scientific Collaboration named after Zinaida Ermolieva, the Scientific Library named after Oleg Inshakov and a tour of the VolSU museum complex. The participants of the delegation from China were impressed by the history and development of the university and expressed hope for further fruitful co-operation.
