VolSU signed a cooperation agreement with a new partner university in Belarus

On July 25, 2023, a solemn ceremony of signing the agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science between Volgograd State University and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University (the Republic of Belarus) took place.

The new partner university of VolSU is the largest research and educational center, rightly recognized by the national and world scientific community. The oldest university in the region has become its intellectual and cultural core.
Alla Kalinina, Rector of VolSU, Valentin Dzedik, First Vice-Rector, Pavel Perekhodov, Vice-Rector for Education and Youth Policy, Larisa Tavkin, Head of the International Office, and Vera Zolotovskova, Head of the Public Relations Office took part in the ceremony representing VolSU. The Belarusian side were represented by Sergey Khakhomov, Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Yuri Nikityuk, Vice-Rector for Academic Work, and Alexander Grakhotsky, Head of the International Affairs Department.

At the beginning of the meeting, Alla Kalinina welcomed the Belarusian colleagues and introduced them to the Hero City of Volgograd and Volgograd State University.
“I am very glad about this cooperation and it has found a warm response from our team, because after analyzing the materials of your university, I saw that we are very similar, we have matching directions. And I am sure that we will find points of contact in various areas: educational and scientific spheres, cultural and humanitarian direction, youth policy projects. Volgograd is a hero-city and we have a wide and well-developed theme of preserving historical memory. VolSU experts have developed an interesting program for students called “Volgograd Vacation Week”. For example, we implemented this program for Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages. It combines educational materials, workshops and an extensive series of guided tours. We will be glad to welcome a delegation from your university as our guests,” Rector Kalinina said in her speech.

Sergey Khakhomov, Rector of Francisk Skorina GSU, also warmly welcomed the VolSU delegation and introduced his university. During the meeting the areas of further cooperation were outlined. The Belarusian colleagues were particularly interested in the activities of the VolSU Engineering Center “TeleNovo”. Valentin Dzedik, First Vice-Rector of VolSU, also offered to develop a joint Roadmap of Events of VolSU and Francisk Skorina GSU.

Francisk Skorina GSU became the eighth partner university in Belarus. Starting from the new academic year the students of VolSU and Francisk Skorina GSU will be able to visit both universities within the framework of the international academic mobility program. Undoubtedly, the cooperation between our universities will be filled with many interesting projects!
