Volgograd State University is included in the list of leading engineering universities in Russia

Volgograd State University is one of the educational institutions included in the list of leading engineering universities in Russia. The list was approved by the Department for Coordination of Educational Organizations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation as part of the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Nikolaevich Chernyshenko.

The main goal of the initiative is to provide training for highly qualified engineering personnel and conduct scientific research to achieve the country's technological leadership.
According to the schedule approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Volgograd State University, as a participant, has been instructed to develop a university development strategy by February 28, 2026. This document will be fundamental in determining the vector of development of the university as a center of engineering education and science, meeting modern challenges and challenges of technological breakthrough.

The strategy being developed will take into account the key criteria for engineering universities and is aimed at strengthening research potential, modernizing educational programs, developing cooperation with industrial partners and integrating into national technological initiatives.

It should be noted that today more than 30% of students study at the university in mathematics and natural sciences, 40% in engineering, dozens of innovative laboratories are operating, and the infrastructure is developing: Over the past year alone, laboratories for artificial intelligence and data analysis, management in technical systems have been opened, and our own technological production facility has been established at the TeleNovo Engineering Center. Technical re-equipment is actively underway, and the range of robots and UAVs is being updated. Every year, Volgograd State University implements a large–scale federal project involving the university's industrial partners - the Acceleration Program of Technological Entrepreneurship.

The inclusion of Volgograd State University in the list of engineering universities is a recognition of its significant contribution to the training of engineering and scientific personnel, and also confirms the university's status as one of the key regional centers of innovative development.
