Volgograd State University hosted the film festival "Won Together"
Today, on the day of the beginning of the Soviet counter-offensive and the day of the missile forces and artillery, in Volgograd State University kicked off the XVII International Film Festival "Won together" named after V. Menshov. The event is supported by the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Russian Historical Society.
The Secretary General of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia" made a welcoming speech at the opening of "Won Together" documentary film festival.
Andrey Yuryevich Belyaninov:
"150 films are presented on the festival, 100 of them are national and 50 are foreign ones. The mission of the festival is to observe a spiritual culture by preserving the memory and historical past, but most importantly, we do it to those who will inherit this memory - the youth, so the festival also concerns about our future. All years the festival was held in Sevastopol, but due to a number of objective reasons related to logistics, we moved it to the hero-city of Volgograd. Thus, for one day Volgograd became Stalingrad. I would like to thank VolSU that did everything to make our festival successful. I wish good luck to all participants of the festival, may the strongest win".
As part of the festival, two cooperation agreements were signed: the agreement between the Russian Historical Society and the Assembly of Eurasian Nations, as well as agreement between Volgograd State University and the Assembly of Eurasian Nations.

“Russia- history in the frame” new contest was introduced for the first time at the XVII festival at the initiative of a member of Presidium of Council of Russian Historical Society - said Valery Ruzin, president of Eurasia TV and Radio Academy, Deputy Secretary General of Eurasia nations assembly, producer of film festival and one of the founders of the project. - The festival would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of VolSU. At the university we hold round tables, here is organized the work of creative platforms. VolSU took an active part in the business and creative program of the festival. Thanks to rector Alla Kalinina for that. Of course, the activity of the university in the vector of preserving the historical memory is impressive, it is interesting, important and necessary for the modern society".
In the course of communication at the business platform the Memorandum on creation of the International Association of descendants of the participants of the Battle of Stalingrad was signed, which aims at joint work on preservation of historical memory and involvement of descendants of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in search and archival activities.
Secretary of State - Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Petr Kucherenko congratulated the participants of the panels in a video message on the opening of the XVII International Film Festival "Won together". He noted the relevance of the event on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, stressed the importance of countering attempts to falsify history and the need to display reliable historical facts to young people.
"VolSU is a symbol and a monument to the feat of the cadet regiments who defended the second height of Stalingrad – Lysaya Gora (literal translation: Bald Mountain). Most recently, while planting trees, our students pulled out shell fragments from the ground, which were then given to the Cadet Regiment Museum. The first rector of VolSU, Maxim Zagorulko, went through both the Battle of Stalingrad and the Great Patriotic War and was the organizer of the search movement that did a lot of work to perpetuate the memory of the events of the heroic past. We cherish this memory," emphasized Rector of VolSU Alla Kalinina, speaking about the multifaceted work of VolSU students and scientists in the field of history.
Ekaterina Altabaeva, the Senator of the Russian Federation, the representative of the legislative (representative) body of state power of Sevastopol, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture addressed to the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech: "The topic of the festival "Won together" and the business program, which is held, is extremely relevant. Today we feel a special responsibility for how this history is digested by those who come after us. The future of our country depends on what kind of young people we have. All the activities that are being tested on this platform are extremely important. On behalf of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, I would like to welcome you to this important and necessary work.
The screening of documentary films of international, TV and national competitions of the festival "Won Together" has already started at Volgograd State University.
The film festival is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Russian Historical Society. The organizers of the festival are the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasia Assembly of Nations" together with the Eurasian Academy of TV and Radio. Co-organizers are the Volgograd Region Administration and the Volgograd State University.
The film festival will last until November 22.

The International Film Festival "Won Together" is an annual festival of documentary films and television programs, which takes place in Sevastopol. The festival is organized at the initiative of the heroes of the Soviet Union who live in Sevastopol, in memory of the common military feat of the countries participating in the Second World War. It is held since 2004. In July 2021 the festival was named after Vladimir Menshov.
The uniqueness of the festival lies in the fact that its program covers the entire industry of documentary cinema. More than 50 national and foreign production companies, TV-channels and festivals are cooperating with the Festival.
In the framework of the Volgograd festival there are special screenings, seminars and round-table discussions on the search for historical truth and the cultural heritage of cinematography. The festival will end on November 22 in the museum-reserve "The Battle of Stalingrad".
