VolSU`s master`s programme students took part in the International Conference in Nizhny Novgorod
Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod hosted the XVI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Translation as a Factor in the Development of Science and Technology in the Modern World", which was attended by master students of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of VolSU Anna Radchenko, Pavel Probachay, Victoria Sheptala and Ulyana Nikiforova. The conference brought together participants from universities in Russia and the CIS: students from Chelyabinsk, Murmansk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Donetsk, Tashkent, Minsk and other cities represented their universities.
Students demonstrated the results of their research works: "Audiovisual advertising: translation and localization" (Anna Radchenko, scientific supervisor - Associate Professor Tatiana Novikova), "Specific features of videogame translation and localisation" (Pavel Probachay, scientific supervisor - Associate Professor Alexandra Usacheva), "Linguopragmatic aspect of translation of political speeches (using the texts of French pre-election discourse)" (Victoria Sheptala, scientific supervisor - Associate Professor Olga Popova).
As part of the conference, interpretation and translation competitions were held. Master's programme students represented Volgograd State University with dignity, and Pavel Probachay took third place in the research paper competition in the section "problems of audiovisual and special translation".
The participation of Volgograd State University students in this conference has become a tradition: our universities are connected by a long-term cooperation, which since September 2022 has been implemented in the format of the Consortium of Translation Schools of the Russian Federation. Participation in the association of leading universities that train translators is an indicator of the high quality of educational programs of the VolSU Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.
