Center “Americana” has actively advanced American Studies since 1995, when it was established.

CONFERENCES:

Since 1995 our center sponsored and hosted more than 10 conferences and workshops on American Studies. Latest events:

"The "Old" and the "New" Borders of Eurasia and Northern America: Security and Cooperation Issues” (Volgograd, 27-28 April 2004). The conference was held together with the Center for Regional and Transboundary Studies with the financial support from the Canadian Embassy in Russia.

“American Studies” in Russia (October 31 – November 1, 2003)

PUBLICATIONS:

"Americana" - an annually published bilingual (Russian and English) series of collections of papers on American Studies by Russian scholars. In 2004 the 6^th volume of “Americana” was published.

Center “Americana” are engaged in active partnerships with Mansfield and Kent University and participate in international exchange program with those universities,

Since 1999 our Center has actively advanced Canadian Studies in Russia's South, and in 2002 we became a regional branch of the Russian Society for Canadian Studies.

CONFERENCES:

“Canadian Studies in Russia” (October 17-18, 2002). The conference was organized with the financial support of the Canadian Government and the Russian Association for Canadian Studies.

"Canada in the Contemporary World" (Volgograd, February 12-13, 2004). The conference was organized with the financial support of the Canadian Government and the Russian Association for Canadian Studies.

PUBLICATIONS:

"Re-presentation of Canada: Cross-Cultural Reflections on the Canadian Society" - an annually published bilingual (Russian and English) series of collections of papers on Canadian Studies by Russian and American scholars. This is a joint project, which we carry out with the Pennsylvania Canadian Studies Consortium.
