Founded in 1980 The University of Volgograd consists of 50 departments, 11 faculties, 3 institutes and 3 scientific laboratories of Russian Academy of Science plus a central administration provide training for more than 15000 students.
The University is rich in history despite its young age. Its snow-white buildings on the hill in the very centre of Volgograd attract eyes of city dwellers and visitors of the city. Students from all over Russia and CIS countries are taught here. The University's museums and collections hold many treasures which give an exciting insight into some of the scholarly activities, both past and present, of the University's academics and students.
The University of Volgograd is one of the youngest universities in Russia nevertheless its reputation for outstanding academic achievement is known world-wide and reflects the intellectual achievement of its students, as well as the world-class original research carried out by the staff of the University.
